Fire Bird Selvedge
Things are not as they seem in the Fire Bird Selvedge.
Naked & Famous Denim developed this wildly uneven 15oz selvedge denim using super slubby warp yarns that usually yield bumps running vertically throughout the fabric - but not here. The Fire Bird Selvedge has undergone an especially rigorous Sanforization process of heating and stretching the fabric that has smoothed the slubs. So, while the fabric still appears to have these thick ridges running through it, they are only two-dimensional.
In a way, this creates something of a paradox. The fabric is rough but smooth, gritty but clean. Irregular but consistent to the touch. It is as though the landscape of the denim has been flattened while preserving the differences in colors and apparent shapes of its previous terrain. The denim of flat ridges.
The Fire Bird Selvedge features a thick buffalo leather patch to accent the apparent texture and classic raw denim details like contrast stitching, copper hardware, and a redline selvedge ID.
