With October approaching, Haunted Forest Selvedge brings a deep, smoky green to the fall lineup. The colour recalls a forest in fading light, giving the denim a slightly eerie character.
Woven in Japan at 14oz from 100% cotton, the fabric has a subtly uneven surface. The brown leather patch and mustard selvedge edge add to its earthy palette.
That surface texture comes from short slub yarn. A slub is a thicker section along a yarn; varying the thickness changes the surface of the cloth when it is woven. Here, the short slubs introduce small irregularities into the green denim. The texture is part of the yarn and weave, giving the fabric detail to discover up close.
The waxed brown pull-up leather patch brings another kind of variation. Pull-up describes the way certain leathers lighten when bent or stretched, as oils and waxes shift within them. That immediate change in tone is distinct from the gradual wear the patch will develop over time.
The jeans are made in Canada and finished with tin hardware and a button fly. Turn up the cuff and the mustard selvedge edge adds a muted yellow accent to the smoky green denim.
