Over The Rainbow Exclusive Nice Guy Fit
The relationship between Naked & Famous Denim and Toronto retailer Over the Rainbow goes all the way back to the start of the brand in 2008. At the time we had very few contacts in the retail world. Essentially, we were knocking on doors trying to find retailers willing to take a chance with an unknown brand. Through that journey we earned a meeting with a very influential fashion distributor in Canada. Brand founder Brandon Svarc pitched them with his unique sense of humor, enthusiasm, and uncanny level of product knowledge. The agency was blown away, they loved the product. The problem was, they knew they would not be able to replicate Brandon’s passion and enthusiasm for the product. So, no deal was made, however we did gain two things. One was advice the brand still lives by today and that is to “sell it yourself”, since nobody else possesses the same passion and love for the product as we do, nobody else can communicate our message the way we can. The second was an introduction to Over The Rainbow, the agency called up the owner and shortly after Brandon had a meeting with Joel Carmen. Clearly they saw something and they took a chance on an unknown brand, and from that day on our products have been carried at Over The Rainbow ever since.
Family owned and operated, Over the Rainbow has been a denim destination for Toronto residents and visitors alike since 1975. From their humble beginnings operating out of a 450 sq ft space to their newly opened 6500 sq ft location in Toronto’s Manulife center, you will still be greeted and served by the Carmen family to this day.
By working so closely with their customers Over the Rainbow can react to their needs quickly. From that understanding came our very first retailer exclusive fit the “Nice Guy”. The “Nice Guy” is a slim fit tapered leg jean that has just a little more room in the thigh and rise when compared to our “Super Guy” fit. For those with bulk in their legs the “Super Guy” can sometimes feel a bit restrictive and going to the Weird Guy which does have more room in the thigh, it does not give them the small leg opening they are looking for. The “Nice Guy” is the perfect go between.
Naturally, the name Nice Guy comes from the fact that the folks at Over the Rainbow are such Nice people. The jeans include a custom leather patch featuring shop founder Joel Carmen, who’s iconic depiction and trademark moustache has been used for the shops advertising over the decades.
