GHOSTBUSTERS®

SLIMER JACKET

A tribute to the most iconic Ghostbusters® ghost.

Slimer… No one even said his name in the original Ghostbusters® film. The film crew called him, “The Onionhead Ghost” and he was only described in early drafts of the script as “incredibly foul-smelling amorphous vapor.”

Dan Aykroyd, who co-wrote and starred in the original film, intended fellow Saturday Night Live member John Belushi to co-star in the film, but after Belushi passed, director and producer Ivan Reitman pointed out that Slimer resembled Belushi’s character in Animal House, so Aykroyd took to referring to Slimer in interviews as “The Ghost of John Belushi.” Easily the coolest ghost to haunt – in chenille – the back of a blackout Japanese selvedge denim jacket.

An oversized embroidered chenille patch shows Slimer from ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ having just raided a hot dog stand, green… relish… dripping from the dog, his tongue hanging out, his four teeth grinning. Varying embroidery methods render Slimer in plush 3-D. The glow-in-the-dark proprietary Slimer leather patch is sewn on the inside at the neck. The jacket itself is made from 13oz solid black selvedge Japanese denim with a red line selvedge ID.
